After recently revealing ambitions for larger-display mobile devices, Google has already begun optimising widgets for Android tablets. Last week, Google began rolling out an upgraded Google Keep widget that has changed from a sidebar to a bottom bar. However, Google Keep's new "dual-pane view" for tablets and foldable devices is still not generally available, but it is planned to reach every user globally in the near future.
Meanwhile, the corporation is said to have begun rolling out the most recent circular design for the revamped Google Drive widget, which is also new for Material You. According to 9to5Google, the new circular widget arrangement will be available with Google Drive version 2.22.357.1 for tablets. This new look, however, will not be accessible for Android phones.
The Google Drive widget upgrade will bring about new adjustments.
The business has stated that it would be upgrading the "Drive quick actions" widget with shortcuts that will allow users to rapidly begin a new document in Docs, Sheets, or Slides. These new shortcuts will replace the plus symbol in the bar layout, which was previously available at the bottom of the creation sheet, and will be added to other choices that assist users rapidly — open Google Drive, search, upload, and start the camera. Furthermore, all shortcut icons are said to be placed in a 32 arrangement.
The new circular appearance of the Google Drive widget resembles the revolving dial found on ancient landline phones. Previously, the Material You design was limited to an x-shaped shape (or flower petal)dial and the latest circular design is completely new for the theme. Moreover, these widgets with multiple shortcuts can not only be eye-catching but can also turn out to be very important for apps that need several shortcuts.
Google Android multi-instance support
Aside from the new circular Google Drive widget design, the business is also releasing a new Android function. The multi-instance support feature, which will work with Docs, Sheets, and Slides on Android, will let users to have two windows open side by side. Google Drive has already been upgraded with a comparable functionality, and Workspace collaboration tools are anticipated to be completely introduced in the coming days.
