Four models make up the iPhone 14 series: the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, from the following year, this nomenclature can be revised. According to two industry observers, Apple may rename the top-of-the-line iPhone 15, which is expected to have the designation iPhone 15 Pro Max, as iPhone 15 Ultra. Renaming "would better follow Apple's newest naming approach," according to one, but "raise Pro shipping allocation and the new iPhone ASP," according to another.
After Apple introduced the iPhone 14 series last week, the iPhone 15 Ultra was initially mentioned. Analyst Mark Gurman suggested that renaming would be much simpler and "better match Apple's newest naming strategy" as reported in the company's M1 Pro, M1 Max, and M1 Ultra Mac chips, and that it would make sense for Apple to eventually change the name of its top-end phone from "Pro Max" to "Ultra."
Another well-known analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, tweeted the next day that he thought Apple would differentiate the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 ordinary models further in order to boost Pro shipment allocation and the new iPhone ASP.
Apple will start differentiating the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro in order to go one step further. The best method to increase sales and profitability in a crowded market is through careful product segmentation, tweeted Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo may have meant that Apple will "start building difference" by including exclusive features in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
It should be mentioned that Apple now distinguishes between iPhone models for professionals and non-pros. The non-Pro models offer incremental improvements over the iPhone 13 series, while this year's Pro models received design changes on the front and in the cameras.
