According to reports, WhatsApp is developing a fix to add the camera shortcut to the app's main Android interface. The communities tab was added to WhatsApp for Android in a previous beta release, taking the place of the camera tab, which is owned by Meta. The camera shortcut was also completely gone in the previously released beta update. Another feature that would enable users to easily read the status updates of others in the conversation list is reportedly being developed by WhatsApp.

According to information provided by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, an update to version 2.22.19.7 is currently being rolled out through the Google Play Beta Program. The camera shortcut is now restored on the main interface thanks to this upgrade. In a previous update, this was eliminated to create room for a shortcut to the WhatsApp Communities tab. In a future update of the app, the camera shortcut is rumoured to be included next to the search shortcut in the upper right corner of the main screen.

Both the Communities tab and the camera shortcut appear to be significant WhatsApp innovations, and the firm is attempting to figure out how to fit both of them onto the home screen. It should be mentioned that the update that will reinstate the camera shortcut is not currently being released. Before it is released to beta testers, there may be a few more adjustments.

The announcement comes a few days after it was revealed that WhatsApp is developing a feature that will enable you to easily view your friends' WhatsApp statuses. According to this function, users can view a contact's status update by clicking on their display photo in the chat list. The WhatsApp for Android app's status updates can all be muted to disable it.

According to a report, more beta testers may receive the upgrade in the upcoming weeks. In the future, it could also be made available for iOS. The timing for this feature's release has not yet been disclosed by WhatsApp.
