According to a recent report from Nikkei Asia, the business has begun discussions with its Vietnamese suppliers about producing the Apple Watch and MacBook there.
It is well known that Apple is attempting to extend its supply chain and production outside of China. Foxconn, one of Apple's key iPhone suppliers, was asked to establish a new production line in Chennai, India, earlier this month. Even an iPhone 14 model built in India is what the business hopes to offer at launch. Additionally, a recent source asserts that Apple's suppliers have begun producing test batches of the Apple Watch in Vietnam.
AirPods and some iPad models are already produced by Apple in Vietnam. However, the business is currently aiming to produce even more Apple items in the country, including HomePod, MacBook, and Apple Watch. In addition to revealing the information about Apple setting up a production line in Vietnam, the report also notes that the trial production of MacBooks in the country has been very slow due to pandemic-related problems.
For the majority of its products, Apple has thus far relied heavily on China for manufacture. Due to lockdowns in China, it is one of the causes for the delay in the release of the iPhone 12. However, it currently seems that the business is making more of an effort to extend its production and supply chain outside of China as it attempts to avoid the supply chain problems it has had in the last few years as a result of the global health crisis and geopolitical strife.
