The Apple Watch 8 and the iPhone 14 are expected to be unveiled during Apple's launch event on September 7; however, it now appears likely that a second new wearable will also be unveiled at the event.
A fresh article at Macotakara(opens in new tab) (via MacRumors(opens in new tab)) suggests that an Apple Watch Pro already exists and will soon be available. The wearable is reported to have a flatter design than the standard Apple Watch with a larger, 47 mm case.
This seems to be more proof that the leaks we've previously heard regarding such a device were truly accurate. Regarding this new wearable, a more robust titanium case and a longer battery life have also been mentioned.
Pro or tough?
The Apple Watch 8 is expected to have a modified, flatter design that was initially predicted to debut with the Apple Watch 7. It now seems that a new model in the series will be the only one to get the improved design.
The 47 mm size information is brand-new; nonetheless, there has been much discussion of an Apple Watch Rugged Edition. Apple Watches are now available in 41 mm and 45 mm sizes. This appears to be the same as the Apple Watch Pro, and in some publications, it has also been called the Apple Watch Extreme Edition.
Regardless of the naming scheme, Macotakara predicts Apple will make a big deal out of introducing the Apple Watch Pro, perhaps giving it the "one more thing" approach that has previously been applied to other product introductions (including the original Apple Watch).
More watch analyses for your consideration
Regardless of the criteria you choose, the Apple Watch has unquestionably been a successful product for Apple. As far as smartwatches are concerned, it is the top seller, and throughout time, many product versions have enhanced and increased its feature set.
If the reports of an Apple Watch Pro (or whatever its name is) are true, Apple may be trying to get iPhone customers to purchase Apple Watches by offering an alternative to the current model. Here is an alternative that is bigger, stronger, and more expensive.
Look at the available tough, outdoor smartwatches, especially the great Garmin line, and you'll see a market that Apple hasn't yet entered. These wearables are appealing to those that take their jogging, hiking, walking, cycling, or whatever exercise they choose a little more seriously.
It remains to be seen how robust and long-lasting the new Apple wristwatch turns out to be, but it can't harm Apple to have a variety of watch versions available for purchase. Also, don't forget about the less expensive Apple Watch SE option.
To be the best smartwatch, the Apple Watch 8 will require this capability.
