The lawsuit claiming that the social media site had improperly shared user data with the research firm Cambridge Analytica has been settled by Facebook parent company Meta. The settlement follows news that Mark Zuckerberg, the chief executive officer of Meta, would have to endure a six-hour deposition by the plaintiff's attorneys, which was made public a month ago. The agreement's terms have not yet been made public. In 2018, Facebook users were suing the social media platform.
Bloomberg recently reported that the lawsuit claiming that Facebook had improperly shared user data with the UK research firm Cambridge Analytica has been settled by American tech giant Meta. The agreement's terms and conditions, however, have not yet been made public. The plaintiff's attorneys will interview Zuckerberg for six hours, according to a report from last month.
Recall that following allegations that Cambridge Analytica, a company connected to Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, had access to data on around 87 million users, members of Facebook sued the social media network in 2018.
The Chief Operating Officer, Sheryl Sandberg, will be required to give a testimony, according to the court petition from a month ago.
In their most recent filing, the attorneys for both parties requested that the court overseeing the case order a break in the proceedings to "enable the process of concluding a written settlement agreement."
