T-Mobile intends to provide mobile users with Internet connectivity in off-the-grid areas of the United States via Starlink satellites. The US cellular provider intends to do away with the need for cell towers by connecting consumers' cellphones directly to the orbiting satellites. At SpaceX's Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas, Elon Musk and T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert announced their alliance earlier this week. The service is anticipated to go live the following year and is supposed to be free to use with current phones.

A cooperation between T-Mobile and Elon Musk's SpaceX will provide wireless phone services in outlying areas of the United States. Thousands of Starlink satellites in the Earth's orbit will be used by the new service, as was previously indicated.

According to reports, the service will start providing text messaging in the second half of 2023. Voice calls and data services are anticipated to be delivered later to users.

"Starlink V2, due next year, will transmit direct to mobile phones, eliminating dead zones worldwide," Musk recently claimed in a tweet.

The multibillionaire businessman also stated that other carriers are welcome to collaborate with Starlink. As was already mentioned, the majority of T-Mobile users' phones will work with the new service.
