Recent price increases for the PlayStation 5 have been announced by Sony for Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Canada. Both the PS5 Digital Edition and the PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive are affected by the price increase.
PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive | PS5 Digital Edition | |
Europe | €549.99 | €449.99 |
UK | £479.99 | £389.99 |
Japan | ¥54,980 | ¥44,980 |
China | ¥4,299 | ¥3,499 |

Mexico | MXN $14,999 | MXN $12,499 |
Canada | CAD $649.99 | CAD $519.99 |
Sony justifies the price hike by pointing to the difficult global economic climate, high inflation, and currency issues. The PS5 supply crisis, which has made the most popular gaming system difficult for enthusiastic purchasers to find, is said to be the company's top priority.
It's unlikely that the price rise will have a detrimental effect on sales. Microsoft's Xbox has been outsold by Sony's PlayStation 5, which has achieved considerable success. Ampere Analysis reports that Sony has supplied 21 million PS5s. as of June 2022, while Microsoft has only shipped 13.8 million.
