Self-Service Repair Added by Apple to MacBook Air and MacBook Pro

Last year, Apple introduced its Self Service Repair programme, which enables customers to do some iPhone model repairs on their own. The concept is currently being expanded to include MacBook laptops. It will only apply to M1-powered MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models. Additionally, the Cupertino behemoth has restricted repairs to the trackpad, top casing with battery, and display. The iPhone repair programme is presently accessible in the US.

The iPhone manufacturer posted on its media website on Monday that the Self Service Repair programme for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models based on the M1 chip had begun. Starting today, Apple will offer real Apple tools and components through its Apple Self Service Repair Store.


For each model of the M1 MacBook, the programme will cover many repair types, including display, top case with battery, and trackpad. Apple intends to expand its lineup of laptops later this year.

The cost to rent the tool set for fixing MacBook models is $49 per week (roughly Rs. 3,900).


In April, Apple announced the Self Service Repair programme and a rental tool kit for people to fix their iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series, and iPhone SE (2022). The US presently offers it for iPhone users, and it will undoubtedly debut in Europe later this year.
