According to reports, Samsung will no longer use the letter "Z" in the branding of its newest foldable devices. The company's forthcoming foldables will probably just be referred to as Galaxy Fold 4 and Flip 4, without the Z prefix. If true, that would be a nice move as the "Z" makes the name needlessly long and feels a little out of place.

According to tipster Snoopytech, Samsung will no longer brand its foldable series with the "Z" letter, and beginning with the Galaxy Flip and Fold 4, the letter won't be printed on the cartons. This, according to the tipper, is because the Russian military uses the letter "Z" frequently.

It seems that the letter "Z" has come to represent Russia's conflict with Ukraine. Numerous Russian military vehicles participating in the invasion of Ukraine were found to have the letter painted on them. Uncertainty surrounds the symbol's meaning; some contend that it designates a military zone, while others assert that it honours Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Additionally, the Russian defence ministry has indicated that the letter "Z" stands for "za pobedu," which translates to "for triumph."

In numerous European nations, including Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, Samsung had taken the letter "Z" out of its foldable devices. The Galaxy Fold 3 and Flip 3 are the names of the Foldables, as can be seen in the image below.

On August 10 during the Samsung Unpacked event, the most recent Samsung Galaxy Flip 4 and Fold 4 are expected to debut. Performance, battery life, and displays are all predicted to be significantly improved by foldables. According to rumours, both devices will come with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.
