Realme 9i 5G review

Realme released the 9i in January and the 5G variant a week later. It comes in Soulful Blue, Rocking Black, and Metallica Gold colour options, but Realme is only offering those two versions right now; the blue model will be available at a later date. Here are our firsthand opinions of the Metallica Gold version, which we had the opportunity to use.

Similar to its 4G counterpart, the Realme 9i 5G is packaged in a yellow box and includes a protective case, a SIM card ejector tool, a USB-C connection, an 18W power adapter, and some documentation.

The 6.6" FullHD+ LCD used in the Realme 9i 5G is covered in Panda Glass for protection. Realme advertises a panel brightness of 400 nits, which is 80 nits less than the 4G variant. However, the firm informed us that in bright situations, the actual peak brightness will reach around 600-700 nits.

The display on the 9i 5G has a screen refresh rate of 90Hz and a touch sampling rate of 180Hz. You can, however, set it to 60Hz to save battery life or keep it in Auto mode to let Realme's algorithm constantly change the refresh rate depending on the app you're using.

In contrast to the 9i 4G, which has a selfie camera punch hole, the 9i 5G's screen has a dated-looking notch that houses an 8MP front camera.

Moving on to the back cover, which is flat, we have what Realme refers to as a Vintage CD Design that was, you got it, influenced by compact discs. Our Metallica Gold version has a glimmering, blingy appearance and scatters light in many directions. It has a cool appearance, and because it is glossy and reflecting, it allows you to see yourself when you gaze at it.

But because it is composed of polycarbonate, the panel is susceptible to fingerprint smudges. Although the smartphone is thin and light, not everyone likes the flat frames. The 4G model with the more curved back cover is more comfortable, in our opinion.

A 50MP primary camera and portrait and macro cameras are combined in a triple camera arrangement on the back panel. These don't have a camera island like the ones on the 9i 4G, and when utilised on a flat surface, the 9i 5G wobbles.
