The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is "100% confirmed" to have the exact same camera design as the Galaxy S22 Ultra, claims reliable leaker @UniverseIce(opens in new tab).
Although we should definitely take their assurances with a grain of salt, Samsung's floating lens design may continue for at least one more phone generation.
The top and bottom edges, or "fuselage," as they refer to it, appear to be less curved on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is one aspect of the design that they do mention as potentially changing.
As you can see below, that can result in a blockier appearance that is more squared-off.
But if @UniverseIce is correct, these two phones will seem remarkably identical because this will ostensibly be the "largest difference" in terms of appearance between the S22 Ultra and the S23 Ultra.
Analysis: It makes logical to preserve the camera design.
It makes sense to preserve this camera design for at least another year as Samsung only switched to it with the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The rest of the design, which was largely new for the S22 Ultra, doesn't really need to be updated every year either. Therefore, it makes sense and is probable that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra won't see many cosmetic changes.
Of course, that doesn't exclude changes from occurring inside. In a previous leak from the same source, it was implied that the battery and screen would mostly remain unchanged. However, the chipset is undoubtedly going to be enhanced, and since a 200MP camera has been speculated, it's possible that modifications will also be made there.
In early 2023, when the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is most likely to be introduced, we'll probably know for sure. But regardless of the situation, we'd be shocked if it didn't end up being one of the greatest Samsung smartphones.
