According to a leak, the Google Pixel 6 Pro's display can operate at 1080p on Android 13. A tweak created by an Android ROM developer can reduce the Pixel 6 Pro's 1440p screen's resolution to 1080p. According to rumors, the Pixel 7 Pro, which is expected to employ the same display as the Pixel 6 Pro, will also include this capability. The displays for the Google Pixel 6 Pro and Google Pixel 7 Pro are reportedly from Samsung.

Developer Freak07 updated the Kirisakura kernel mod for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, according to a report by 9to5google, allowing users to reach the settings page and choose between full-HD+ (1080p) or quad-HD+ (1440p) resolution. The key point is that in order to provide this option, the Google Pixel 6 Pro needs to run Android 13.

The Pixel 7 Pro is expected to have a dedicated toggle between the standard 1440p and 1080p output, according to previous rumors. Given that both the Google Pixel 7 Pro and the Google Pixel 6 Pro are rumored to have displays built by Samsung, it would be possible to modify the Pixel 6 Pro so that it can operate at 1080p resolution. Although the viewing experience will undoubtedly be diminished by this feature, it can assist save battery. Mishal Rehman of Esper was the first to report on this characteristic.

It has been warned that flashing your phone with this "mod is the product of substantial testing and tinkering" could cause damage to the phone. The paper emphasizes that "changing a phone's raw display settings can result in problems with brightness levels, colors, and more." Therefore, even if the mod has undergone extensive testing, it is advised against installing it.

It is also said that the Google Pixel 7 Pro would have a display that is brighter than the Pixel 6 Pro. The forthcoming Google smartphone's display is anticipated to reach a maximum brightness of 600 nits in Manual mode, an increase of 100 nits above the 500 nits provided by its predecessor. The brightness of the Pixel 7 Pro is predicted to be 1,000 nits in Auto mode, exceeding the 800 nits of the Pixel 6 Pro.
