Matt Shakman has been chosen to direct the Fantastic Four. Deadline reports that the director of WandaVision is in preliminary discussions to extend his working relationship with Marvel Studios by directing the first film to be released during Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fantastic Four, set for release on November 8, 2024, will have Kevin Feige in charge of production tasks. J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Lindsey Weber's Star Trek reboot sequel at Paramount has thus lost Shakman as a producer.

According to Deadline, preliminary talks have started even though Shakman has not yet received a formal offer. It was originally planned for John Watts, the filmmaker of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, to helm the Fantastic Four relaunch in 2020. But the director resigned early this year and agreed to work on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which stars Jude Law. Shakman is now in the running, and Feige has found himself a worthy substitute. The Disney+ limited series WandaVision has even received Emmy nominations.

Matt Shakman is an immensely brilliant director, and we regret the timing didn't line up for him to helm our future Star Trek movie, stated Paramount Pictures in a statement regarding his withdrawal from the Star Trek sequel. We appreciate all of his contributions, are enthusiastic about this new chapter's creative direction, and can't wait to share it with audiences throughout the globe.

With Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet as its first female writers, Star Trek 4 will continue to be released on December 23, 2023. The studio wanted Chris Pine to be reunited with the remaining space crew, therefore Shakman was chosen to helm the sequel in the summer of 2023.

Phase 6 of the MCU begins with The Fantastic Four relaunch, which should have a more compelling story. After three failed attempts, 20th Century Fox sold the movie rights to the superhero team to Marvel Studios. Miles Teller (Whiplash), Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther), Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell played the primary characters in the 2015 film adaptation of the Fantastic Four, stylized as "Fant4stic." Despite having a $155 million production budget, the movie made $167.9 million (or approximately Rs. 1,344 crore) globally (about Rs. 1,241 crore). The movie had the lowest box office take of all the Fantastic Four movies.

There are currently no information on the Fantastic Four movie's casting. The actor John Krasinski has long been favoured to portray Mr. Fantastic. In Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, he did make an appearance in a different form, although he was just transformed into spaghetti.

Fantastic Four premieres in theatres around the world on November 8, 2024.
