Camera Glasses from Xiaomi
Xiaomi secretly started a crowdfunding campaign for their first pair of smart glasses, the Mijia Glasses Camera, two weeks ago. As you can see, it's not referred to as the Xiaomi Smart glasses or the Xiaomi Glasses Camera. Therefore, it is evident that the Mijia Glasses Camera is more comparable to a product created by Xiaomi eco-chain manufacturers and does not place as much emphasis on smartness or features as other smart glasses.
The concentration is on camera shooting, as the title already makes clear. We originally ordered one on the Mijia platform and tried it out for a few days because we were interested in seeing if it was as useless as the other smart glasses now available.
Unboxing
Before we begin, allow me to show you what is contained in the Mijia Camera Glasses' large package. The spectacles emerge when the cover is flipped. It's not little, but it has a good build and a fair size. The entire structure resembles a hard headband and the legs cannot be folded down. However, the frame is still adaptable enough to fit users with various head sizes. The instruction guide and a soft towel for cleaning glasses are included.
And this is a big box that will be used to store the glasses. When you open it, you'll discover the remaining supplies inside, including a charging wire, a USB-A to C port adaptor, and a hanging eyeglass with conventional lenses.the nearsighted. You will need to fit your own lenses, if necessary. Since the camera glasses without the lens frame is not so light, I still recommend contacts instead of heavy lenses for those people.
Glasses Design
Coming back to the glasses. The most attractive part of this Google-glasses style device is the camera module on the side, including a 50MP wide-angle camera and another 5x optical periscope lens, which supports up to 15x hybrid zoom for long shots. So with these glasses, you are going to have a hybrid zoom range from 1x to 15x, which is a very unique feature for a glasses product.
A Sony Micro OLED display with a maximum brightness of 3000nits is located on the opposite side. In essence, it serves as a viewfinder for the wearer while they are taking pictures or making films. Apart than that, it currently has limited capabilities. In reality, there is only a real-time translation enabled here at the present and no further AR features, despite what the promotional materials suggest.
Exposure: Wearing and Using
It's absurd that Xiaomi added augmented reality user advice on the eyewear. It's the device's most pointless function. Unfortunately, the instruction is horrible because it is obvious that this feature was not created with the user in mind, but rather solely to demonstrate that it could be AR-enabled. In the end, nobodywill learn how to wear and use the glasses through the tiny display.
Since you can clearly feel the weight and the wearing experience is not particularly comfortable, I couldn't wear it for longer than 30 minutes. And once you put them on, this prismatic display component will inevitably block part of your view, which might be annoying for people who wish to wear them for an extended period of time. If you're going to use the camera, you also have to make a compromise on that. The fact that it serves as a viewfinder, however, prevents it from being absolutely worthless, therefore this pain is tolerable when shooting.
