Zack Nelson of the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel recently put the Google Pixel 6a's construction to the test. The most recent smartphone in the Pixel series has a 6.1-inch OLED screen with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. A series of scratch tests, a flame test, and a bend test were performed on the Pixel 6a. Despite being a mid-range device, it appeared to produce results comparable to those of the more expensive Pixel 6 Pro, which Nelson has already put through its paces.

In a recent video uploaded to the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel, the Google Pixel 6a was put through a number of tests. A series of scratch tests were performed starting with the device's 6.1-inch OLED screen with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Level 6 markings are apparent on the Google smartphone's display, and level 7 marks are substantial scratches. Notably, the Pixel 6 Pro's display had a comparable outcome as well.

The Pixel 6a's four sides are all comprised of solid metal, as Zack discovered when he used a razor blade to test the frame. It seems to be an improvement over the Pixel 6 Pro, which was discovered to have three metal sides and a top side made entirely of plastic.

The Pixel 6a's rear panel is revealed to be entirely plastic, while having a gloss that resembles glass. Plastic also serves as the primary material for the back camera module. A layer of glass, however, shields the cameras from damage.

The display was then placed in the flame of a lighter, where it remained for around 20 seconds before beginning to burn. Nelson then applied the razor blade to the display region above the fingerprint sensor, which despite the screen's scratches appeared to be functioning as planned.

The dreaded bend test, which has led to smartphones like the OnePlus 10T breaking in half, was finally time. Even when being compressed from the front, the Pixel 6a scarcely even showed any symptoms of bending. The smartphone did lose its shape when you turned it over to the back, and the screen slightly protruded from the frame. The phone instantly snaps back into place, though, and the screen locks into the housing. Nelson proclaimed that the Pixel 6a passed the durability test after these outstanding results.
