According to Internal Data Corporation (IDC), worldwide shipments of tablets increased by 0.15 percent on a year-over-year basis, while shipments of Chromebooks continued to decline, falling by a startling 51.4 percent on an annual basis. In comparison to the second quarter of this year, from April to June, when 40.4 million units were shipped, various OEMs shipped 40.5 million units. On the other hand, Chromebook shipments decreased from 12.3 million to 6 million units over the same time period.

Apple maintained to dominate the tablet market with a 31 percent market share, despite a 2.89 percent drop in shipments to 12.6 million units year over year. With 7.3 million units delivered and a market share of 18.1%, Samsung placed second. A 26.92 percent YoY gain and 5.5 million shipments let Amazon's Kindle take third place. Lenovo dropped to fourth place with shipments down 25.67% YoY to 3.5 million units. Huawei has 2.1 million units to round out the top five.

According to IDC, the third quarter saw growth in the market for Android tablets, with new players like Xiaomi, Realme, OPPO, and Vivo appearing to have surpassed expectations. According to reports, special sales like 618 in China and Prime Day in the US, as well as tablet deployments in education initiatives, are to blame for the growth of the tablet market as a whole.

Regarding the Chromebooks, they reported poor results for quarterly shipment. Every manufacturer reported a decline in growth from the previous year. Despite this, Dell continued to dominate the market with 1.5 million shipments, closely followed by Acer's 1.3 million. With 1.2 million shipments and a 19.4% market share, Lenovo finished in fourth place. With 0.9 and 0.4 million devices sold, HP and Samsung took fourth and fifth place, respectively.
