The Moto G62 5G was already launched by Motorola back in June, but the company has already created a another model with the same name just for the Indian market. Although it has increased processing capability, the phone remains mostly unchanged. More on that in a moment, but it is also comparable to other Motos.

The Snapdragon 695 CPU, which replaces the Snapdragon 480+ of the prior G62, powers the new Moto G62. Even though both chipsets claim to have "Adreno 619," a cursory comparison reveals a newer node (6nm vs. 8nm), newer CPU cores (2x Cortex-A78 and 6x A55 vs. 2x A76 + 6x A55), and a faster GPU.

Motorola India lists two configurations: one with 6GB of RAM and the other with 8GB, both with 128GB of storage. That surpasses the original version's meagre 4GB of RAM. If you don't intend to use a second SIM card, you also get a microSD slot (for cards up to 1TB). The phone comes pre-installed with "near stock" Android 12.

The battery is the last significant component to have changed; while its capacity remains at 5,000mAh, the charge rate increased to 20W from 15W (the term "major change" may have been overstated in this case).

Apart from that, the phones are essentially identical. They have 6.5" panels with a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution (20:9). There is a 16MP camera built into that (f/2.2, 1.0 m native pixels, 2.0 with 4-in-1 binning), which can capture 1080p video at 30 frames per second.

On the other side, there is a 2MP macro camera, an 8MP super wide-angle camera, and a 50MP primary camera (f/1.8, 0.64 mm native pixels, 1.28 mm with 4-in-1 binning). The wide-angle and ultra-wide cameras can only capture video at 1080p resolution (the main can do it at 60fps, the ultra wide at 30fps).

A polycarbonate body with a water-repellent construction makes up the Moto G62. It weights 184g and has an 8.6mm thick. As we continue our tour, we find a fingerprint reader, a USB-C 2.0 connector, and a 3.5mm headphone socket (with an FM radio receiver). Two microphones and stereo speakers are built into the phone.

This device has 5G connectivity, much like the international version (which will soon be useful). The phone also has Wi-Fi 5 (ac) and Bluetooth 5.1, although NFC is not included.

Similar models, such the Moto G82, were mentioned. It has the same 50+8+2MP camera and Snapdragon 695 chipset (6/8GB RAM + 128GB storage). The 6.6" AMOLED screen has a 120Hz refresh rate, and the 5,000mAh battery charges more quickly at 30W. Additionally, there is the Moto G71s, which is practically interchangeable with the G82.

Starting on August 19, the new Motorola Moto G62 5G model will be sold in India (in Midnight Gray and Frosted Blue). The base 6/128GB model will cost 18,000; the additional 2 gigabytes of RAM add another 2,000. However, more information about possible reductions can be found at Flipkart.

By the way, the Moto Tab G62 tablet will debut on August 17—a few days earlier. This 10.6" Snapdragon 680 tablet will be offered in both Wi-Fi and LTE versions.
