In the first episode, King Viserys (Paddy Considine) had to choose between appointing his obstinate daughter Princess Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) as his successor and his violent brother Prince Daemon (Matt Smith), whose limb-lopping criminal cleanse of King's Landing revealed his unsavoury propensity for violence. His choice launches the devastating Targaryen civil war because there is no obvious heir.
Prince Daemon will presumably be the main subject of Episode 2, which is named after Martin's 2014 novella "The Rogue Prince," which describes all of his exploits. And now that the plot has been established, we will undoubtedly meet new devious characters who will concoct even worse plots.
