Google pleasantly surprised everyone today by releasing Android 13 for all eligible Pixel phones. The most recent Pixel phones, including the 6, 6 Pro, and 6a, cannot return to Android 12 after receiving an update to Android 13.

Attention: The bootloader update in the Android 13 update for the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and the Pixel 6a increases the anti-rollback version. You won't be able to flash earlier Android 12 builds on these devices after flashing an Android 13 build.

The modification is noted on the Android 13 Factory Images page for Pixel smartphones, although the anti-rollback feature on previous Pixel models is not mentioned. Although the cause is unconfirmed, it is assumed that Google will be able to adequately secure its devices from future vulnerabilities with the Pixel 6 range and its Google Tensor chip. For Google Pixel phones, the anti-rollback function is now starting to take effect as a planned security safeguard.

With improved "Now Playing" card aesthetics and more granular app permission settings, Android 13 introduces the Material You theme. For example, an app can access one item without being granted access to all internal storage. Additionally, Bluetooth LE Audio, spatial audio, and simultaneous sound streaming to many devices are all supported.
