Google has been working on a foldable phone for quite some time. According to a recent patent submitted to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Google foldable smartphone has a similar design to the Samsung Galaxy Fold. According to earlier reports, the device resembles the Oppo Find N a lot. Although there are little specifics about the smartphone, it has already been leaked on several occasions and shown on patent websites. The release of the rumoured smartphone has reportedly been delayed twice.

According to 91Mobiles, the rumoured Google foldable phone would have a design that is comparable to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, citing a WIPO patent filed in June 2021 and recently made public. It is advised to have a foldable design resembling a laptop with substantial bezels around the screen. The foldable smartphone's top bezel houses the selfie camera (in the unfolded state). The patent, according to the article, does not depict the smartphone's design while it is folded.

The phone was earlier supposed to resemble the Galaxy Z Fold 3, however a later rumour stated that Google's foldable smartphone is anticipated to resemble the Oppo Find N rather than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. Even as recently as this month, rumours claimed that Google's foldable phone and the rumoured Google Pixel 7 Ultra were both in production. Foxconn is rumoured to be producing the phones in China.

The Tensor SoC that powers Google's Pixel 6 smartphones is said to power the company's foldable phone, which may be referred to as the Pixel Fold or Pixel Notepad. There are rumours that the Google phone will only be offered in a few markets.

The release of Google's foldable smartphone was rumoured to be delayed until late 2021. It is expected to launch in the spring of 2023 after apparently experiencing a second delay. The foldable phone is rumoured to have a 5.78-inch cover display with an ultra-thin glass cover and a 7.57-inch foldable display.
