The American tech giant recently revealed that Google Maps is coming to WearOS and that users will be able to utilise it without an active connection to their handsets. Sometime later this year, the feature will be added to WearOS. At the end of the previous month, Google Maps introduced aerial and immersive views of about 100 of the most well-known places on the planet. According to a report from June, Vodafone and Google collaborated to increase a smartwatch's battery life by lowering "chatter" between the gadget and the network.
The most recent Galaxy Unpacked presentation saw Google make the announcement that it is bringing offline Maps navigation to WearOS. The news coincides with Samsung's release of its Galaxy Watch 5 Series at event. The navigations feature is expected to be introduced to WearOS sometime later this year and users will be able to operate Google Maps on WearOS without their phone around.
As was previously noted, Google Maps introduced aerial and immersive views of about 100 of the most well-known places in the world toward the month's end. To create the digital representation of virtual maps, it blends Street View and aerial photographs with developments in computer vision and artificial intelligence (AI).
With the most recent version, Google Maps will now show bikers precise routes that include information about any stairwells or steep hills that may be in their path. Additionally, the platform's location sharing capability is being improved with the inclusion of arrival and departure notifications.
