There are rumours that Google has extended the hiring freeze deadline. The business stated last month that it will stop hiring for two weeks in order to encourage existing staff to work harder and more efficiently. According to two Google employees who spoke to Business Insider, a recent story claims that the search engine giant has delayed this for one additional week.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, has stated that "productivity as a whole is not where it needs to be for the personnel we have." The news follows his remarks. He essentially thinks that the organisation has too many employees, but that not many of them are productive or goal-focused.

Although Google has already stated that recruiting will slow down for the remainder of the year, it will still be hiring for "essential roles." While many employees are being let go by a number of major tech businesses as part of a restructuring effort. According to analysts, the globe is concerned about the impending recession, which is why firms are trying to cut expenses and we are hearing more about layoffs.

While some businesses have acknowledged that this is also a cost-cutting measure, the majority of businesses have cited restructuring as one of the factors leading to layoffs. Google's CEO recently claimed that the corporation is "immune to economic downturns," despite the fact that no employees have yet been let go.

"The hazy future of the world economy has been on everyone's mind. We are not immune to economic challenges, like any businesses. We've never seen these kinds of difficulties as impediments, which is something I value about our culture. According to an internal message from CEO Sundar Pichai that was issued and obtained by The Verge, "instead, we've regarded them as opportunities to deepen our focus and invest for the long term."

"More entrepreneurial, working with greater urgency, sharper concentration, and more hunger than we've demonstrated on brighter days," the CEO wants Google staff to be. "In certain circumstances, that entails reducing procedures and combining where investments overlap. In other situations, that entails halting development and redeploying resources to other important areas, according to Pichai.
