Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology, stated that 5G telecom services would launch in India by October 12. In his Thursday media appearance, Vaishnaw gave the assurance that 5G services would almost completely cover all of India in the next two to three years, with a wider spread after the launch. Earlier predictions indicated that the centre may roll out 5G services by the end of the month, most likely on September 29.

Vaishnaw reportedly added, "We are planning to roll out 5G services quickly," according to PTI. In that regard, installations are being completed and work is being done by the telecom operators. By October 12, hopefully, we'll be introducing 5G services, which we'll then expand up in cities and towns. We'll make sure it stays affordable. The sector is emphasising both urban and rural locations.

A lot of data may be transmitted very quickly via the fifth-generation mobile network (5G), which is believed to be around ten times quicker than the fourth-generation (4G) service. 13 Indian cities will receive high-speed Internet access in the first phase, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has previously announced. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune are some of the cities on this list.

The telecom service providers (TSPs) Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, Adani Data Networks, and Vodafone Idea have already paid the DoT a total of about Rs. 17,876 crore for the spectrum they bought in the most recent auction. The service providers have also received letters from DoT assigning them specific frequencies. The service rollout by the service providers is anticipated to happen soon.

Bharti Airtel announced earlier this month that by March 2024, all Indian municipalities and important rural areas would have access to 5G services. Vi has begun alerting its consumers about the 5G upgrading in the meantime. On the other side, Reliance Jio was the bidder who spent the most during the 5G auction. At the forthcoming AGM meeting, the telecom operator is anticipated to announce the debut of 5G services.
