We discussed how a new chat shortcut, a feature being developed for businesses, allows you to create an order in the post on the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.9.12 update. Although there is formal news today, the same feature was already observed while WhatsApp Desktop beta was being developed. Mark Zuckerberg actually just announced on Facebook the first end-to-end buying experience on WhatsApp made possible through a collaboration with JioMart in India!
As you can see in this screenshot from Meta, some customers in India are already able to place orders by accessing the JioMart catalog. The item will automatically be placed to a personal cart after the order is created. Users can securely complete the payment without leaving WhatsApp once the essential products have been added to the cart.
Mark Zuckerberg's vision is very specific; he claims that corporate messaging is a growing industry and that in the future, "chat-based interactions like this will be the norm for how people and organisations communicate."
In India, some users of the most recent versions of WhatsApp for Android, iOS, and desktop have access to this functionality; additional users will get access to it in the coming weeks.
