The colossus of virtual reality technology, Meta, of California, recently disclosed that the company's upcoming VR gear will be unveiled in October at its annual Meta Connect press event.

Mark Zuckerberg, the current CEO of Meta, made the announcement during a unique interview on Joe Rogan's podcast (via The Verge). According to Mark, the upcoming virtual reality headset will have a few significant features. It will be released in October.

The name of Meta's upcoming virtual reality headset was not mentioned by Mark Zuckerberg in the podcast, but reports and rumours suggest that it is the company's Project Cambria, which is currently under development, and that its official name will be the Meta Quest Pro (a member of the Meta Quest/Oculus lineup).Quest series of VR headsets).

Mark Zuckerberg informs the audience that Meta's upcoming product will bring facial and eye tracking to consumer VR headsets. He gives some examples of what the Meta Quest Pro can do for users, such as making flexible and direct eye contact in virtual reality conversations, creating avatar facial expressions that mimic your real-life face expressions, and—this is the most startling of all—having your expression translate in real-time to your avatar if you smile, frown, pout, or use any other facial expression.

We won't get any other information about the upcoming Meta Quest Pro until early October, when Meta will make its official launch announcement.

Rumor has it that the Meta Quest Pro will debut at a starting price of US$ 799 or higher, making it the most expensive virtual reality headset in Meta’s catalogue.
