The eighth beta of iOS 16 has been released by Apple in advance of the software's anticipated September 7 announcement. Those who have signed up for the beta programme can check for it by opening the Settings app on their iPhone and going to the General  Software Update menu.

If you want more information on how to sign up for the iOS 16 beta programme and can't wait a few more weeks till the public release, go to this page. But keep in mind that beta builds frequently have flaws that degrade the user experience; it is therefore better to avoid using them on primary devices.

We advise you to wait for the final release since it won't be long since the iOS 16 beta 8 with build number 20A5358a has bug patches, performance enhancements, and other optimizations that get it closer to the public release.

A revamped lock screen, notifications, and the ability to edit or cancel a recently sent message are all included in iOS 16. The battery % was also reinstated in the status bar of an iOS 16 beta. To learn more, check our coverage of the iOS 16 announcement here.
