Each quarter sees a new low for global smartphone shipments, but Apple feels very confident in its forthcoming iPhone series. The Cupertino business has reportedly informed its vendors that the iPhone 14 series will sell more units than it had planned, increasing the total number of units it will make from 90 million to 95 million.
According to a recent article from the Taiwan Economics Times, Apple anticipates that the iPhone 14 series would perform better than expected in terms of sales. As a result, it has instructed its suppliers to create and ship 5% more iPhones than originally anticipated, or 95 million units instead of the first expected 90 million.
The report, citing sources, predicts that among the new phones, the highest-end iPhone 14 Pro Max will have the most stock. This shouldn’t come as a surprise because the iPhone 13 Pro Max was also in high demand.
Previous reports suggest that the iPhone 14 series which is expected to launch in September might be delayed due to the ongoing political tension between China and Taiwan. The mass production of smartphones is expected to begin this month.
There will be four smartphones in the iPhone 14 series: the standard iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Max, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The outdated A15 bionic chip and an appearance reminiscent of the previous-generation iPhone 13 are anticipated in the vanilla and max variants. While the more expensive iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models are expected to feature some significant upgrades, such as quicker A16 processor, pill-shaped replacement for the notch, and better camera capabilities with a new 48MP lens.
