Apple fires recruiters as the business slows hiring

As part of a broader crackdown on hiring and spending, Bloomberg has reported that Apple is firing up to 100 of its recruiters who are in charge of locating and vetting potential new applications and full-time employees for the business.

The 100 recruiters were informed that they were being laid off as a result of a change in Apple's spending philosophy and a slowdown in hiring. The recruiters were dispersed throughout the company's operations in California, Texas, and Singapore. According to Bloomberg, those employees were informed that they would continue to be paid, receive their benefits, and have the opportunity to have their personal property returned from their workplaces for an extra two weeks.

The 100 recruiters who were let go by Apple are only contractors who, on average, earn less money and have fewer enticing perks than full-time employees. Tim Cook, the company's CEO, said Apple will be "deliberate" in its hiring and investment due to the present economic climate, confirming a Bloomberg story from last month that the company would be slowing down its recruiting pace.
