A prequel to the well-known fantasy series Games of Thrones, House of the Dragon, was released earlier this week on August 22. HBO has already revealed that the show will return for another season, despite the fact that the creators have only yet aired one episode of the current season. The television programme portrays the heyday of the famous country lords from Game of Thrones. The television series, which is based on George RR Martin's book Fire and Blood, is set roughly 200 years before Daenerys Targaryen or the Khaleesi was born.

The second season of House of the Dragon has been renewed, HBO Max tweeted with a dragon image. The decision was made after the first episode of Season 1 garnered over 10 million overnight views in the US on Sunday, breaking the previous record for an HBO series premiere.

The owner of the television network, WarnerMedia, announced in a statement that the programme has now achieved the record for "the greatest audience for any new original series in HBO's history."

"Our incredible cast and crew took on a huge challenge and went above and beyond. Thank you so much for guiding us on this adventure, co-creator and executive producer George R.R. Martin, as well as co-creator and showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik. Season two of the epic House Targaryen narrative will have us even more thrilled than the first, said Francesca Orsi, executive VP of HBO programming.

Ten episodes make up the first season of Ryan J. Condal's House of the Dragon, which he co-created with other showrunners. On October 24, the weekly-released series will come to an end. The programme is being shown on Disney+ Hotstar in India.

It should be mentioned that between 2011 and 2019, there were eight seasons of the television series Game of Thrones. There are now at least seven more spinoff projects for the series in development.
