One UI 5, the future version of Samsung's overlay built on Android 13, the most recent version of the operating system that Google unveiled earlier this month, has just begun beta testing.

The beta testing rounds typically take for at least a few weeks, but everyone is understandably interested in when the finished One UI 5 build will be released. And as of right now, a fresh rumour states that either October 17 or October 19 will be that date. It is said that at that time the upgrade would begin rolling out to Galaxy S22 units.

That is a very particular piece of information, especially for a software deployment that may occasionally encounter unforeseen bugs. The ideal time to take all of this with a healthy dosage of salt is right now because it comes from a source without a track record.

However, October seems like an acceptable deadline given that the betas began in early August and that, in principle, 10 weeks of testing should be sufficient to work out any potential issues. However, we'll have to wait and see how this one turns out.
