A fresh bug patch update from Google is presently being released for the Pixel 6 series and the Pixel 6a. The new update, which is distinct from the planned August 2022 update, which is set to launch later, intends to correct a GPS-related fault on the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a smartphones. The Pixel 6 series and Pixel 6a's fingerprint problems have not been resolved by the upgrade. Nevertheless, a number of customers who are using the most recent Android 13 beta report that the upgrade has enhanced the fingerprint sensor.

According to Google, the extra update will address a GPS location issue that, under some circumstances, affects the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a devices. This upgrade is distinct from the August 2022 update, which Google has made clear would be available to all supported Pixel devices in the upcoming weeks. Starting today, the new update will be distributed to Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a models that are carrier-locked and globally unlocked.

Owners of the Pixel 6a are anticipating the upcoming update in the hopes that it would fix the fingerprint scanner issue, which has plagued them since the device's release. However, according to latest reports, the fingerprint scanner problem has been

In the first week of August, the Pixel 6a received its first software update, but it did not fix the problem with its fingerprint reader. The problem, as described in a previous report, is a serious security flaw. A security weakness in the in-display fingerprint scanner allows even unregistered fingerprints to be authenticated in order to unlock the smartphone. It is yet unknown whether the problem is with the Pixel 6a's fingerprint reading software or hardware.

Strangely, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have been upgraded to the more recent July 2022 security version but only the Google Pixel 6a appears to be stuck on the older June 2022 security update.

Although they are being marketed through unauthorised methods, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro did not officially arrive in India. The Pixel 6a launched on sale starting on July 28 after being formally introduced on July 21 in India. The phone has the same premium Pixel 6 and 6 Pro models' Titan M2 security coprocessor and Tensor SoC, however it has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage instead. The phone sports two rear-facing cameras, one of which has optical image stabilisation (OIS), and a normal 60Hz refresh rate OLED display.
