New technology has an alluring scent, and unboxing a new phone causes unimaginable joy. The thrill factor of OnePlus phones is among the highest in the industry because to their accessory-filled unboxing experience. Fortunately, the benefits of buying a phone from OnePlus don't stop there.
You can make a number of enhancements and modest adjustments within OxygenOS that will materially improve how you use your OnePlus phones. We've provided eight pointers in this manual that you should keep in mind while you set up your OnePlus phone.
Configure or turn off the shelf.
The Shelf add-on has been a part of OxygenOS for a few versions, but the Oppo-fication of the business is really when it was slammed in our faces. Although it has helpful widgets like a step counter and short notes, most users might find the method you access it annoying.
The OnePlus Shelf appears every time you swipe down from the right side of the status bar, frequently with a jerky animation. Although many people prefer the Android default behaviour, which is to pull down the notification panel, you can choose to get used to this gesture.
Fortunately, OnePlus devices allow you to turn off the Shelf feature:
To reach the OnePlus Shelf, swipe down.
In the top-right corner of your screen, tap the cog icon.
To turn off the Launch Shelf toggle, tap on it.
Alternately, you can tinker with these choices to arrange the Shelf in a different way if you choose. To access them faster, you can add normal widgets or activate first-party data cards that provide weather, storage, and data information.
2. Enable Off-Screen Movements Back in the day, one of the first few
enhancements OnePlus made to its OxygenOS was the ability to use off-screen gestures. Most OnePlus users take it for granted that they can play or pause music, skip tracks, and activate the flashlight without having to turn on their phone's screen.
3. Remove bloatware
There isn't any bloatware on your new OnePlus phone—at least not in the conventional sense. After years of refusing to sell phones with pre-installed third-party software or games, OnePlus is finally included a handful of its own apps in the box.
Some of these include OnePlus Notes, Games, Community, and Store. These apps aren't half bad, while being largely unneeded. Installing the Store app on your phone may make a lot of sense if you frequently spend money on OnePlus products. The same holds true for other applications like Weather and Clone Phone.
Since first-party manufacturer programmes have a propensity to hog system resources, we advise you to uninstall them completely if you never use them. Fortunately, all of these apps are simple to remove.
4. Make Optimized Charging available.
Few people may even see the need to plug in their phones before going to bed now that almost every OnePlus phone has super rapid charging. It could be in your best interest to turn on the Optimized night charging toggle under Battery Settings if you prefer to wake up with a fully charged phone.
Your phone goes through a cycle and marginally loses capacity each time you charge it completely. Even while leaving it plugged in for extended periods of time is no longer dangerous, charging your phone overnight is still harmful. During the course of the night, the Optimized Charging feature stops charging at about 80% and starts charging again at 100% just before you wake up.
For the feature to work correctly and for your phone to adjust to your sleeping pattern, it often takes a few days to a week. This function can undoubtedly lead to better battery health over time if you frequently charge your phone wirelessly before bed.
5. Create an account with OnePlus
You may want to register for a OnePlus account if you've decided to stick with the "bloatware" that OnePlus includes with its phones. Go to Settings > Users & accounts > OnePlus Account to accomplish this.
As a result, you'll be able to sync notes, interact with community postings in the Community app, and upload photographs and videos to the cloud. Additionally, OnePlus offers the Red Cable Club programme, where members can exchange virtual currency for gift cards and other freebies.
