Next week, on August 2, Motorola will unveil the Razr 2022 and Edge X30 Pro. As the time draws near, more information about the gadgets becomes available; this time, the X30 Pro is the focus.
The X30 Pro will cost more than the X30, which debuted last December, according to Chen Jin, general manager of Lenovo's mobile phone division in China. The starting price of that phone was CNY 2,999, or about $444. The new X30 Pro won't be able to match that pricing.
The culprits are simple to spot: the X30 Pro has a 200 MP camera, the first of its kind in a smartphone, and that sensor is really very large (and thus, probably very expensive). The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in the X30 Pro is a newer and better chipset than the 8 Gen 1 in the X30, but it also appears to be more expensive.
Therefore, Motorola, which is owned by Lenovo, was unable to keep the price below CNY 3,000 due to these components. Unfortunately, the GM withheld the precise amount we should be anticipating; but, next Tuesday isn't that far away, so we'll find out then.
Keep in mind that the Edge X30 Pro, now known as Edge 30 Ultra, has long been reported to arrive outside of China at a later date. Of course, that one ought to cost more than the Edge 30 Pro, a rebranded Edge X30.
The Edge X30 Pro's (and consequently, the Edge 30 Ultra's) other rumoured specifications include a 6.67-inch 144 Hz curved OLED screen, a 50 MP ultrawide camera, a 12 MP 2x zoom portrait camera, a 60 MP selfie camera, 8/12GB of RAM, 128/256GB of storage, and support for 125W fast wired charging for its 4,500 mAh battery.
