Now, any emoji can be used as a response to WhatsApp messages.

It took WhatsApp a very long time to add emoji reactions compared to Messenger, which is also owned by Meta, and it only just recently did so to great acclaim from users all around the world. There was still a problem, though, in that WhatsApp's coders had already decided which six alternatives you would have.

Undoubtedly, this was still a positive step, but many consumers desired more. And WhatsApp does so today by enabling you to respond with any emoji you choose.

This is clearly a very minor improvement to what is still a very new feature, but we anticipate that many of you will find it to be quite useful. Rest assured that the functionality is finally on the way, even though the deployment may take a few days to reach all Android and iOS devices now using WhatsApp.
