The X-series receives the majority of the attention, but vivo's reasonably priced Y-series makes 5G connectivity accessible to everyone. The company debuted the Y76s and Y76 5G toward the end of last year, and is now preparing to introduce a new vivo Y77 5G.

The new phone will be powered by the Dimensity 810 chipset, just like the Y76s. The base configuration will include 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM (plus 4GB virtual) (expandable via microSD). The phone will come pre-installed with FuntouchOS 12, which is based on Android 12. (up from v11).

With 8.25mm and 194g in comparison to 7.8mm and 175g, the vivo Y77 5G will be slightly thicker and heavier. This is as a result of the larger, 5,000mAh battery (up from 4,100mAh). However, it appears that the 44W fast charging system will be replaced by a simple 18W system.

The Y76 and Y76s will both be used in the camera setup. This includes a 50MP main camera (f/1.8), to which a 2MP macro camera will be the only addition. A 16MP selfie camera with face unlocking will be located on the front. Users will also have the option of using the side-mounted fingerprint reader.

There won't be any changes to the display; it will still be a 6.58" LCD with a resolution of 1,080 by 2,408 pixels (20:9) and a typical refresh rate of 60 Hz.

On July 7 (Thursday), the vivo Y77 5G is anticipated to go on sale in China for CNY 1,300 ($195/€185/15,000). There will be two colorways available: Starlight Black and Glowing Galaxy.

The phone is also anticipated in Malaysia, where Lazada, Shopee, and other retailers will sell it.
