The Xiaomi 12S Ultra and Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition, two of Xiaomi's most recent flagship products, feature "INNER BEAUTY," AI-powered proximity sensors from Elliptic Labs, a provider of artificial intelligence (AI) software and virtual smart sensors. The former is supported by MediaTek's Dimensity 9000+ chipset, while the latter is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. In addition, Elliptic Labs is partnered with Qualcomm.
Laila Danielsen, CEO of the Norwegian business, stated that "Xiaomi's continued use of our AI Virtual Proximity Sensor for its top smartphones, as well as the success of our companies as a whole, highlights just why the AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform is a reliable option for smartphone proximity sensing. The best and most cutting-edge smartphone designs are made possible by the AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform, a software-only solution that makes technology smarter, more environmentally friendly, and more user-friendly.
On July 4th of this year, the Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 12S series. The top model in the new flagship series, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, is outfitted with Qualcomm's cutting-edge Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which is manufactured using a 4nm process. This chipset supports 512GB of internal UFS 3.1 storage and up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
When people bring their smartphone up to their ear during a phone call, Elliptic Labs' AI Virtual Proximity Sensor turns off the display and disables touch functionality on the screen. In addition to saving battery life by automatically turning off the screen, this lessens the likelihood of hanging up a call or dialling numbers when holding the phone close to the ear or cheeks.
Without the requirement for a separate hardware sensor, the sensor also offers reliable proximity detection. All current cellphones on the market use proximity sensing as one of its primary features. The AI Virtual Proximity Sensor lowers the cost of the gadget and eliminates sourcing risk by swapping out hardware sensors for software ones.
Notably, practically all Xiaomi devices feature the AI Virtual Proximity Sensor from Elliptic Labs.
