Since a few years ago, Apple has been developing the next-generation AirPods Pro, and according to reports, the company plans to release the Apple AirPods Pro 2 in the third or fourth quarter of this year.

According to the most recent information, the company's upcoming flagship wireless earbuds won't use its own Lightning port for charging but rather a USB Type-C port.

The new report also clarifies a few additional improvements that are anticipated to accompany the new Apple AirPods Pro 2. The new System-in-Package (SIP) for the H1 chip is expected to power it, and it will reportedly support enhanced adaptive noise cancellation, EQ, spatial audio, and audio sharing.

Fast charging will also be supported by the USB Type-C charging case for the earbuds, though specifics are still unknown. There's also a chance that the gadget will get some new sensors, like ones that can track heart rate and temperature.

There have previously been rumours and images of the second-generation AirPods Pro, which have a few design changes.

The skin-detect sensor, which made its debut with the recently released Apple AirPods 3, offers a more precise way to determine whether the earbuds are actually in the user's ears or not. The earbuds will be equipped with this sensor. It operates by identifying the amount of water in the wearer's skin.

The Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) is also said to be supported by the earbuds, which would make them the first TWS earphones from the Cupertino-based tech giant to do so.
