Later this year, along with the new iPhone 14 series, Apple is anticipated to introduce its next-generation smartwatch lineup in the form of the Apple Watch Series 8. A number of information about the device has surfaced online ahead of the official announcement.

In a recent report for the Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg suggests that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 may include a body temperature sensor.

The smartwatch is said to be able to detect fevers using the sensor, but it won't be able to provide a precise reading of the wearer's body temperature. It will now be able to recognise increases in body temperature and decide whether the user needs to see a doctor or not.

The body temperature sensor is reportedly undergoing internal testing by the company. If it passes, it will reportedly be included in the upcoming Watch Series 8 lineup, but it might not be included in the more affordable SE lineup.

The upcoming smartwatch lineup from the technology giant won't have any significant new features aside from the addition of this new sensor; instead, it will likely only include minor upgrades, such as better displays for the high-end models.

Since the company has not yet made any Apple Watch Series 8-related announcements, we anticipate that the devices will formally debut in a few months alongside the Apple iPhone 14 lineup.
