Samsung released the June 2022 security update for the Galaxy S22 series last week. Aside from the usual security patches and bug fixes, the update's changelog didn't mention many enhancements. However, according to a recent post on Samsung's forums by a community moderator, the update includes some big surprises in the form of significant camera improvements.

The new update, according to the community post, includes significant camera improvements. Photos, for example, will have a more natural sharpness and better contrast expression. The update is also likely to address the oversharpening issues.

According to the latest update, camera bugs that cause the phone to stop taking pictures after capturing a shot with the Single Take mode have been fixed. In addition, the camera's automatic white balance algorithm has been tweaked, allowing it to capture more natural colours when photographing dogs and other animals.

Furthermore, while recording videos, memory consumption has been reduced, resulting in fewer stutters and frame drops. Finally, the portrait mode's performance has been validated, and the camera's performance has been improved.

All of these enhancements were included in the June Security Update, which was released last week. 1.7GB of data was included in the update. Apart from the camera enhancements, the update also bumped the Linux kernel version from 5.10.43 to 5.10.81.

The update was initially only available in European and Asian countries, but it should now be available in almost every region. If you haven't received it, manually check to see if it's still available. Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install to find out.

Samsung advises users to update their Galaxy smartphones while they are charging and connected to a strong Wi-Fi signal.
