There was a period when Android OEMs included their own stock apps in their phones, but that tendency has faded in recent years. Google apps have gradually begun to replace the default dialer, messaging, and other apps on smartphones. Xiaomi, however, is not immune to it. Some MIUI Phone apps had to be replaced with Google versions, according to the Chinese tech giant.
Xiaomi stated in 2020 that all of its international devices would come preloaded with Google's Phone and Messages apps. As a result, MIUI Dialer and Messaging can no longer be installed on Xiaomi smartphones running a Global or EEA ROM. But why did the Chinese manufacturer make this choice?
Due to privacy laws and constraints around the world, Xiaomi has replaced its MIUI phone apps with Google apps. In a comment posted on the community site, the firm admitted the issue. "All smartphones that were/will be released internationally after the Mi 9T Pro (including the Mi 9T Pro itself) were/will be pushed out with Google Phone, Messages, and will no longer come pre-installed with MIUI Dialer, Messaging." Because of privacy laws and constraints around the world, these handsets now use GMS, or Google Mobile Services," according to Xiaomi's official statement.
MIUI, Xiaomi's Androidx skin, is one of the most popular. Its rich features, customizations, and minimalist appearance are popular among users. Dialer, Messaging, Mi File Manager, Mi Calculator, Recorder, Mi Share, Mi Music, Mi Video, and many other system apps are included with MIUI. While the majority of these apps remain available, some of the most popular have been replaced.
