Microsoft has unveiled the Microsoft Surface Notebook Go 2, a new entry-level laptop. It's an updated version of the original model that was released a few years ago, as the name suggests.

The starting price of the newly announced Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 is $599, which is $50 higher than the previous generation model. It is now available for pre-order, with shipping slated to begin on June 7th.

The parameters are nearly identical to the original model. It still has a 12.4-inch display with the company's characteristic 3:2 aspect ratio and a 1536 x 1024 pixel screen resolution. It includes a fingerprint sensor incorporated in the power button and is powered by an Intel Core i5 CPU from the 11th generation.

The Surface Laptop Go 2 includes more changeable components, including the keyboard and trackpad, display, and battery, according to Microsoft. They are, however, meant to be changed by a Microsoft-approved service provider.

In terms of software, the laptop runs the current Windows 11 operating system, as opposed to the previous model, which came with Windows 10 in S mode, which limited apps to those found in the Microsoft Store.

The device's connectors are identical to the predecessor's: one USB-A, one USB-C, a headphone jack, and a proprietary Surface charging port. Wi-Fi 6 is available for connection, and dual microphones remain. In terms of battery life, the manufacturer claims that the laptop can last 13.5 hours on a single charge.

The base model costs $599.99 and comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant costs $699.99. A variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is also available for $799.99. Commercial variants with the same settings are available for $100 extra. A $1,099.99 model with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage is also available on the commercial side.
