Samsung has dominated the foldable smartphone industry, with many models now on the market. To improve its market share, the South Korean behemoth has opted to double down on this new form factor.

While Samsung is preparing to release the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip phones, a recent rumour suggests that the firm may potentially release a less expensive foldable smartphone in the future.

Samsung is working on a less expensive foldable smartphone that will be released as part of the company's Galaxy A-series, according to tipster @chunvn8888 on Twitter. The smartphone, on the other hand, isn't expected to be released anytime soon, with a release date set for 2024 or 2025.

With the introduction of new models of foldable smartphones, cost is steadily lowering, and in a few years, Samsung will be able to deliver an inexpensive foldable smartphone to the market.

It'll be interesting to see which form factor Samsung chooses for the Galaxy A-series foldable device: the book-like fold seen on the Galaxy Z Fold lineup or the clamshell fold shown on the Galaxy Z Flip range.

The popularity of foldable cellphones is on the rise. According to a survey by Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), shipments of foldable smartphones surged by 571 percent year over year in the first quarter of this year, with 2.22 million devices sold, and Samsung continues to lead the industry with a 74 percent market share.
