A few of the former employees of the Essential firm have created the new smartphone brand OSOM. The business will introduce its first smartphone later this year, as was originally announced a few months ago.
The device, once known as OSOM OV1, is now known as Solana Saga. In addition, the business has disclosed that it will transition to a web3-focused Android device.
The smartphone has been renamed and no longer goes by the moniker OSOM; instead, Solana Mobile, a division of Solana Labs, is introducing the product.
The business had previously stated that the phone will be released in the second half of this year, but the launch has now been postponed to "early 2023," with no specific release date yet.
Pre-orders for the Solana Saga have now been made available by the firm. It has a 6.67-inch OLED screen. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 CPU, 12GB of RAM, and 512GB of internal storage will power the gadget.
It will use the Qualcomm chip's built-in security mechanisms through the Solana Mobile Stack (SMS). According to the description, it is "an Android framework that enables developers to build immersive mobile experiences for wallets and applications on Solana."
The phone's primary camera will use a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor and a 12MP Sony IMX373 ultra-wide lens. A 16MP camera for selfies and video calls will be located on the front of the device.
It supports functions including Bluetooth 5.0 and a fingerprint scanner located on the back. A 4,100mAh battery will power the gadget, which also supports wireless charging. Even though the business was talking about selling the OSOM OV1 smartphone far under $1,000, the Solana Saga is anticipated to be priced at roughly $1,000 despite the fact that the cost is not yet disclosed.
