Apple introduced its new MacBook models, which are powered by the company's new M2 processor, at the WWDC 2022 event. This new chipset replaces the company's first proprietary CPU, the ARM-based M1 microprocessor.

According to a fresh source, the company is planning to release the upgraded M2 Pro processor later this year as well. To put it another way, the Cupertino-based behemoth has already announced intentions to introduce more powerful laptops in the near future. For those who aren't aware, the new M2 chips are already more powerful than their predecessors, with an 18% increase in CPU performance and a 35% increase in GPU performance.

As a result, the M2 Pro chips should be even more capable. According to a market study by Jeff Pu, an analyst and managing director of tech research at TSMC, the iPhone maker's chip supplier, the news is good. He expects mass manufacturing of the M2 Pro to begin later this year, and that it will be built on the more sophisticated 3nm technology. For those who aren't aware, the M2 uses the same 5nm technology as the M1 processor.

The new M2 Pro might have up to 12 cores in its CPU and a more powerful GPU, according to reports. Because it is a Pro model, it will very certainly come with items that are superior to the recently announced MacBooks. As a result, it might be found in new iMacs and other professional-level devices. However, as of right now, this is only conjecture, so take it with a grain of salt.
