Last year's A15 Bionic chipset is slated to power the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The iPhone 14 series is scheduled to be released later this year by Apple.

  • The new chip could be able to boost performance.

  • The iPhone 14 is rumoured to be the first iPhone without a notch.

The iPhone 14 series is likely to comprise four smartphones: the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Pro, the iPhone 14 Max, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, with major variations between the 'Pro' and normal variants. According to a fresh claim, the new A16 Bionic processor will be used in the next iPhone 14 Pro models, while the A15 Bionic chip used in the current iPhone 13 handsets will be used in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had predicted that the iPhone 14 Pro series will use the A16 Bionic SoC, while the non-pro versions would use the A15.

Apple will release four new iPhone 14 models in the second half of this year, according to TrendForce. According to the rumour, iPhone 14 Pro versions would be equipped with the most recent technology, most likely the A16 Bionic chip. The research backs with previous projections by Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known expert. While the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will use the A16 Bionic processor, Kuo previously stated that the iPhone 14 models would have the same A15 SoC as the iPhone 13 series.

The A16 Bionic chip, according to Kuo, would be built on TSMC's existing 5nm manufacturing technology. The A16 Bionic chip is expected to be manufactured using the same fab process as the A15 Bionic chip. The new chip might offer slight performance and power-saving advantages over the old A15 Bonic.

The iPhone 14 series is expected to be unveiled during an Apple event in September. The notched display is expected to be gone with the iPhone 14. The screen sizes of forthcoming phones are also projected to increase somewhat. The screens on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are believed to be 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch, respectively.
