Apple eventually introduced the new M2 processor at WWDC 2022, as well as putting an end to all the speculations with the unveiling of the updated Apple MacBook Air. With this, the corporation has upgraded a laptop that was last updated a few years ago.
The new Apple MacBook Air is equipped with the latest M2 CPU and maintains its fanless design. The laptop has a larger 13.6-inch display with up to 500 nits of brightness instead of the standard 13.3-inch display.
The screen is touted to be 25% brighter than the previous model, and it can display 1 billion colours. The device's design is quite similar to that of last year's 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro versions.
Apple claims that the new M2 CPU improves Final Cut Pro performance by approximately 40% over the M1 Air, and Photoshop speed by up to 20%.
On the left side, there are two Thunderbolt ports and a headphone jack that supports high-impedance headphones. It now includes charging functionality for the MagSafe connection. It does, however, lack some connectors, such as HDMI and an SD Card reader, among others.
It also has four speakers and three microphones, as well as an improved 1080p camera. Dolby Atmos spatial audio is also supported, according to Apple. With Touch ID and Force Touch trackpad, the Magic Keyboard now features a complete row of function keys.
The laptop is only 11.3 millimetres thick and 2.7 pounds in weight (1.2 kilograms). The business claims that the battery can last up to 18 hours of movie playback and that it will charge up to 50% in 30 minutes using an optional 67-watt power adapter.
Silver, Space Gray, Midnight, and Starlight are the four colour options for the new Apple MacBook Air. It will be available for purchase starting next month at a cost of $1,199.
