Once again, Apple is the market leader in the premium smartphone class. The brand is the market leader in this niche, and its iPhone smartphone line is its most well-known product.

The information comes from a research by Counterpoint Research that said the Cupertino-based firm has amassed a sizable market share of 62 percent in the world's premium smartphone market in Q1 2022. In other words, this indicates that the brand came close to controlling a two-thirds share of the market. A smartphone that costs more than $400 USD is typically regarded as a luxury model. Therefore, an iPhone model made up two out of every three cellphones sold at this price point.

However, this also suggests that several mid-range smartphones, such as the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G variant, were also on the list. Apple yet managed to rule the whole market in the first quarter of this year, despite competitors like South Korean companies having an edge due to having a more varied smartphone portfolio. The shares of the iPhone manufacturer are currently up 5% from a year ago. The first iPhones to support 5G technology, the iPhone 12 series had a good deal of popularity in 2021.

Interestingly, this also implies that the iPhone 13 is presently the best-selling smartphone model worldwide, since it easily outperformed alternatives from every other competitor in the mobile market. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone had the greatest sales performance among premium Android phones over the same time period.
