Google has released the third beta build of Android 13 for Pixel phones that are supported. This comes about a month after the second beta, precisely on schedule and in accordance with the company's previously declared release timetable, which you can see in the graphic below at a glance.
A new beta will be available in July, followed by the final version, which will be available to all Pixels by the end of the year.
With Beta 3, Android 13 achieves Platform Stability, which is a significant milestone for app developers since it signifies that all app-facing behaviours in the OS, as well as APIs, have been finalised. Most app developers will want to start working on Android 13 compatibility immediately, knowing that the platform will remain unchanged until the final release.
To refresh your memory, Android 13 features a renewed focus on privacy and security, as well as improved support for tablets and big displays, which builds on the work begun with Android 12L. Support for current standards including HDR video, Bluetooth LE Audio, and MIDI 2.0 over USB, as well as a new picture picker for sharing, customised app icons and per-app language support
If you wish to test Android 13 Beta 3 on your Pixel, simply enrol it here, and the build will be delivered to you as a software update. If your device is already enrolled, the update notice should arrive shortly.
