Samsung intends to build a new production line in its home country of South Korea that will focus on generating bigger OLED panels for tablets and laptops. These screens will, according to reports, be sold to Apple.
According to TheElec, the South Korean manufacturer will provide OLED panels for the Cupertino-based company's next-generation iPads and MacBooks from this facility. This discovery is noteworthy since it confirms a prior report that the iPad Pro would eventually enable OLED panels in 2024. Samsung had first assumed that these display panels would be made from one of its current lines.
However, according to a fresh rumour, the company's future production line would be placed in a different plant and will be capable of producing OLED laptop screens. In other words, the display on future MacBook Pros will be a Samsung-supplied OLED panel. This model is expected to be released in 2025 or later. Apple has recently begun to use tiny LED panels in its iPad and MacBook lineups.
As a result, after this shift, OLED will be the next phase. OLED panels, unlike tiny LED panels, have self-emitting pixels and hence do not require backlighting. This means that future iPad and MacBook models will have a greater contrast ratio and longer battery life as a result of this. OLED displays are already used in the newest iPhone and Apple Watch models. As a result, it was only a matter of time until additional items adopted the same display technology.
